Eligibility

Income Limit Guidelines

Public Housing is available to all individuals and/or families who meet income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  It is based on the adjusted gross (pre-tax) annual income, family size, and is limited to U.S. citizens and specified categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status. The table below displays the current income limits by family size for Portage County in Wisconsin.

What is considered income?

Income includes money from wages, self-employment, child support, contributions, Social Security, disability payments (SSI), Workman’s Compensation, retirement benefits, TANF - welfare (W-2), food stamps, food share, Veterans benefits, rental property income, and stock dividends, etc.
